Observational Drawing

Students were asked to draw items they had nearby to practice their drawing stills using charcoal pencils on paper.

2-D Design Exercise using Text

High School students were challenged by creating an image using text that pertains to their topic.

Printmaking

Art 1 students were instructed to make a meaningful image which would be used to explore printmaking. Artists then learned the printmaking process of "Xerox Transfer" in order to make multiples. Finally, they were given the option to use watercolor paint to add color to their work.

Portraiture

Advanced art students explored creating portraits by using their friends as models. Artists were encouraged to think about expression to further their ideas.

Wearable Art

Students in my 3-D design class were challenged to create small pieces which were wearable. This is a finished object that can be worn as a headband. Students used a variety of mediums to complete this project.

Mixed Media Recycling Project

Middle school students were asked to use items from their home to make 3-D creatures. This assignment allowed students to think about how found objects may be used as a means for making something fun and interesting. These characters were put together in a collaborative display for the school community to enjoy.
